Think of Slapshot as veterans. They've been playing this game called Hardcore for far longer than many of the bands that are being counted as legendary today. One would be led to wonder why they're still even putting out records after this long.
Well so are they.
On such songs as Stupid ******* Kids and Spirit of '81, lead vocalist Jack Kelly eschews many of the kids today who are involved in the scene for all the wrong reasons (let's stretch the metaphor a bit and assume that one of the main counts for incrimination would be the ever growing concern for fashion) and in the end questions on why he's even bothering at all.
So how does a band make things tongue in cheek after such ranting? Easy. How about throwing in an extended cover of Minor Threat's seminal 'Straight Edge'. The music is straight ahead Boston hardcore which isn't all that much of a surprise since it's been their consistent sound for all of these years. Latch on and see what happens when the forefathers finally hand out discipline to their wayward sons.
