Florida's Sleeping By The Riverside released this record a couple of years ago, but it's still a classic nonetheless. As it is in any musical genre - hardcore changes stylistically from region to region. Florida has always had a style to set themselves apart where the music is slowed down with more intricate chord progressions and tougher vocals that are more akin to pound you over the head with their intensity rather than leave your mind reeling from the speed of the general delivery. The obvious culprits in this sound include the likes of the now deceased Strongarm, Shai Hulud and of course, Sleeping By The Riverside themselves.
On selections like 'Until The Heart Bleeds', the guitars alternate back and forth with one playing the basic chords of the song while the other plays an intricate lead line over the top. Vocalist Adam Warshowsky's tough shout almost mirrors Strongarm vocalist Chris Carbonell's and he variates little from this technique. A Breath Between Battles is sad to listen to only because it was the band's swansong. The upside however is that it's still influencing countless bands today.
