Slicker is the brainchild of legendary 80's film director, John Hughes' actual child -- John Hughes III. The music that Hughes III creates, however, is not the sort that gets played during a slow motion squeezed-aspect-ratio ending to a touching teen comedy. We All Have a Plan (WAHAP) is the handiwork of an exceptionally creative and staggeringly capable beat programmer.
On WAHAP, Hughes enlists vocalists from all over the globe backed by a host of jazzy beats, wind instruments and techno blippery (that's right... blippery). These ingredients combined make for an uncommonly organic and cultured trip-hop record. "When the Dog Goes Lame" boasts the catchiest beat on the album by fusing a vocal sample with snare hits and inserting a sinister upright bass line. "Can't Cope" is another standout making excellent use of a simple violin riff and hushed, incoherent vocals. If you're into slow, lazy hip-hop and want a nice mood album you can relax to, you won't be disappointed.
