When I heard the news of Knapsack's break-up I was rather upset, especially having never seen the band live, but the release of Jealous Sound's debut has made me completely forget about it. For all intensive purposes this EP is the new Knapsack record, because everything I loved so much about them is here, same frontman and all. With their self-titled debut, Blair Shehan and company take that driving hook-filled power-pop to a new level with the addition of more keyboards. One song in particular even goes the route of the piano, a stripped down sound that still manages to rock on the level of the EP's other songs. The only complaint here is that there aren't more songs, because though much of the music coming out these days within a similar genre is crap, The Jealous Sound is top notch and long overdue for a bit of recognition.

Decapolis 2000Reviewed by Tom BastianWow, this is wonderful. What a perfect way for a band to start out. Five songs that only leave you wanting more. The Jealous Sound features the same soothing vocals that won so many hearts for the band Knapsack (probably one of the most prominent indie rock bands in the 90's). Compared to Knapsack I would say the songs tend to be a bit slower, although they still rock you with their complexity…
