I popped The Tremolo Cowboys into my Windows Media Player® and the category of music showed up as "Religious." As if songs with titles like "You're My Jesus" or "My Friend the King" could be anything but religious in nature. Overall, this is gritty, all-American, blues-y rock, with a vibe similar to Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. The raspy, warm vocals of Aaron LaMere, coupled with his own guitar, as well as the catchy guitar work of Bobby Love provides the staple sound of the Tremolo Cowboys. As the band name may suggest, there is plenty of tremolo at work here. Michael Salinas' drumming, and Keith Young's rhythmic bass add a full sound to the traditional four-piece line-up. Hailing from Longview, WA, The Tremolo Cowboys are from the same scene that has given us R&RWC, so as that rule generally goes, The Glitter Twins were also responsible for the production. What is fresh about this recording is that these are all original tunes, instead of the cliche "alt-rock" takes on traditional worship songs. Not only that, but they become easy to sing along to, because they're memorable in the way that a good worship song should be, without being annoying or forced. Undeniably, these cowboys are praising Jesus with their r-n-r.
