The Warning

This series of tapes: "Conviction of Sin Live"; "U.S. Decay"; and "Moral Majority Live"; all give a glimpse of the music of Burrito. Much later to become known as The Warning, Conviction of Sin existed for about two months in 1985. While these tapes win no awards for production or technical excellence, the music is overlain with superb, upfront preaching concerning salvation. The songs here sound like today's more driving rock - kind of fast and thrashy - yet without much musical direction...just jammin' and preachin'. Also included at the end of C.O.S. live are a few studio cuts including one tune, probably called "He Is God" (no songlist included), which bellows of Jesus' sovereignty, over a rapid, shredding guitar piece and thrash beat, and then, right in the middle, stops, then squeals faster and faster (like fast forward) 'til the end! Very amusing. "Revelations 3:16" is a cool tune off "U.S. Decay", that shouts, "Lukewarm Christians make me vomit!" "Moral Majority Live" starts off by screaming "God is not dead!" followed by the announcement that, due to legal reasons, they were now Public Confession. They follow up with a thrasher called "Jesus Is God" (different than the Deliverance version...maybe Jimmy Brown's inspiration came here...) Also included is a sing-along of "Jesus Loves Me".
