Gentle, comforting acoustic strings and the voice of a male angel paint a mosaic of The World Inside. It is a world where reality suddenly seems like a cruel joke, and where the surreal transcendence of earthly trappings becomes genuinely alive for an hour of time. To call this album ethereal would be putting it mildly, for Jesse Sprinkle of Poor Old Lu fame has tapped into that part of every man that yearns to live again in Eden. While both of the Sprinkle brothers are currently showing themselves to be masters of understatement and prose-based cornucopian wonder, Jesse distinguishes himself from his older brother by delving beyond folk ponderings, and digging into utopian peace. If I can be excused for a moment, and allowed to use a cliché, Roobrik is a slice of Heaven on earth. A truly edifying and hope-giving work, recommended for anyone with a soul.
