this album is one of the best metal albums of all time i think. the lyrics are some of their best lyrics, focusing on issues and not just a relationship with God. the music is a new style from that of Psycho Surgery and Stop the Bleeding... and the vocals are experimented and twisted around... one of the very few experimental metal albums that becomes good.
the production of this album is much more mature and thoughtful than the other two before this... in my opinion. i think that the big words and themes described within are much more thought provoking and less tell-it-as-it-is. this album and its lyrics get me thinking more than any other tourniquet album. i really miss this aspect of tourniquet.
there are a couple songs that either take some time getting used to or take some time and then you want to get rid of it... but over time you will have liked every song on this cd more than any other song on the cd. it's just how it goes. for that reason... there's not much to say other than ... get this now.
9/10

HM Magazine #93Reviewed by Chad OlsonTo appreciate this classic album released by Intense Records in 1992, it helps to understand its era. The Christian metal and hard rock scene was escalating to incredible new heights. With Vengeance Rising having signaled a huge shift from the "safe" sounds of Stryper, REZ, and Bloodgood, the stage was set for things to explode. For perhaps the first time, Christians were creating relevant,…
HM Magazine #92Reviewed by Doug Van PeltYou've got to rejoice in the justice of it all when a band redeems the rights to their back catalog. Then, when it gets re-released with new packaging and bonus tracks, you can really get excited. As in the case of Tourniquet, who have re-released their classic first three albums on their own (Stop The Bleeding, Psychosurgery, and Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance), and they didn't skimp on the…
Salt #15Reviewed by Steve ParkIt seems at the moment the "Big Deal" is death, grind, grunge, etc. Fine, but are you willing to try something a little beyond that? Yes, it takes a certain breed to appreciate Tourniquet's technical tastes. Alas there is no puppy chow here kiddies. Clocking in at 60 minutes per hour, this 12 course smorgasbord of changes, bizarre vocals & guitar, bass & drums solos is a far cry from the basic…
Heaven's Metal #39Reviewed by Doug Van PeltThe new Tourniquet album comes after a strong showing on their debut album, with tunes like "Ark of Suffering" and vocals eerily close to King Diamond; and a most excellent sophomore effort with "Psycho Surgery." The anticipation for this album has been high--and undoubtedly mounted after a three-month delay. My widest observation of this project? It takes longer to get into than "Psycho," which…Similar sounding releases
