It seems at the moment the "Big Deal" is death, grind, grunge, etc. Fine, but are you willing to try something a little beyond that? Yes, it takes a certain breed to appreciate Tourniquet's technical tastes. Alas there is no puppy chow here kiddies. Clocking in at 60 minutes per hour, this 12 course smorgasbord of changes, bizarre vocals & guitar, bass & drums solos is a far cry from the basic regurgitated grindage we've been offered lately. My fave dishes are songs 1-12. After listening to this disc you will know why "super drummer" Ted says this band is "heavily" influenced by classical music. The trippiest song is "The Skeezix Dilemma." It starts out with a 6 year old reciting Ted's poetic lyrics. Also guitarist Gary Lenaire donates his vocal chords here & you can't tell me that's not Roger Martinez of Vengeance Rising in there too. The song titles (like Carcass) may be medical terminology "Ruminating Virulence", "Gelatinous Tubercles of Purulent Ossification"--But lyrically the good message is easily understood. Git it!
