Trytan is back after three years of silence with a very heavy album. If you're expecting the dominating keyboards that were present on their debut, Celestial Messenger, don't! The keys are there, but only enough to enhance the wailing guitar of Lary Dean. This album is the perfect compliment to Celestial Messenger. With the melodic, commercial overtones of the first album, and the jammin' guitar oriented songs on Sylentiger, in concert, Trytan could put on one hot show. The standout cuts are: "Take Cover", which has a great intro similar to that of "Out of Time" by Barren Cross (that of the rapture taking place). This would be the perfect concert opener. Other hot songs, "Here to Stay", "Playing with Fire", and the title cut have the same basic lyrical theme - denying ourselves and turning to the loving arms of Christ. The only weak points are that some of Lary's guitar leads sound too similar to other leads on the album. Also, while new drummer Jim Dobbs is good, he just doesn't have that complex style that former Scotty Blackman (former drummer) had. Overall, Trytan has released a great second album...even the cover artwork is great - a Bengal Tiger with a crown of thorns in his mouth. At this pace, Trytan will continue to be an innovator - instead of a follower - in Christian metal.
