Jimmy Eat World lay claim to the first three songs on this split EP, and they do it in typical Jimmy Eat World style. The first song, "The Most Beautiful Things" didn't jump out at me as being one of their better songs, but it's still Jimmy Eat World and when you put it up against some of the stuff that other bands have put out, it still shines. My favorite of the three Jimmy Eat World songs was definitely the second track, "No Sensitivity". This song is one of their best songs I have heard to date, and the EP is worth getting ahold of just for this song. It's upbeat, catchy and incredibly melodic. If this one doesn't get you moving and singing along their probably isn't much that will. The last of their three songs is, "Cautioners" and is probably the most "Clarity" (the bands last full-length which came out on Capital Records) sounding tune, with it's drum machine echoing, and sweet vocals.
Jebediah the Australian wonder-band contributes three previously released songs. At least I think they have all been released before. I know at least one of them, "Animal" appeared on their latest full-length which we just reviewed a month or two back. The second of their two songs is probably their best, "The Less Trusted Pain Remover". This band just doesn't really seem to impress me too much though. The sad thing with this release is it just seems to be a way to sell Jebediah to Jimmy Eat World's American fans. What they tried to do is take three of Jebediah's best songs, put them on a CD with three new Jimmy Eat World songs, so all the JEW fans would buy the CD and hopefully end up enjoying Jebediah also. What makes this especially evident is when you take into consideration that the label that put out this EP is also the label that just released the new Jebediah full length. Well it didn't really work on me. One good song out of three for Jebediah.
