Could there be three sides to this review? "BELIEVE," the new and latest release from Uthanda is their best effort yet in growing into the rock club style. After hearing about these guys live and then seeing them, I felt that a review of their new project would be cool. Look out, though, because after the third time I listened to it, I was hooked. On the first listen only the song, "Shadow Play," stood out as an interesting tune with a heavy message: "Weakness is the only strength in me/Your forgiveness is the only way." Yet, on the second listen, an 80's cover tune stuck out and said, "Enjoy the fun memories of your teenage years!" The song is "Cars" by Gary Numan; and yet more fun was the 60-ish keyboards mixed with the rock ballad sound of today in the song "Did You." It's for all those times you have questions and yet your spirit gives you a peace of mind. Now, the third time I had built a foundation of fun and a song I really enjoyed on the third pass was the rockin' tune, "Fear." It's got a heavy alternative beat, yet with guitars playing that ole' grunge sound. "Fear" is my favorite track and could very well be yours. Dig into this release and build upon the truth that's weaved into the lyrics and the styles of rock that still reigns in the midst of Southern California.
