Have you heard of M8 Distributions yet? You're going to be hearing more and more about them in the future if you haven't. M8 is a company focusing on re-releasing old, out of print albums, and live material from bands. Their catalog will be growing quite a bit as they have a lot of albums to release over the next year.

Song Wars is their first compilation CD, and it's got 18 tracks by 15 bands for a mere $4.99. It gives you a taste of what is to come from M8. The track listing looks like this:

Jamie Rowe - Let it Go
The Mustard Seeds - The Way of the World
The Mustard Seeds - Queen of Misery
    Midnight Orchestra - War Dance
    Blame Lucy - Big Enough
Third Crow - Piercing the Darkness
    Dale Thompson - Waiting
    Atomic Opera - Rain Parade
    Atomic Opera - Feverdream #1
Deitiphobia - Bow to the Cross
    LSU - She Lies
    Lifesavers - Money
    Bride - Missing Children
    Philadelphia - Search & Destroy
    Philadelphia - Showdown
Rage of Angels - Leave You or Forsake You
Tempest - Dancing in the Rain
    Charizma - The Knights

Midnight Orchestra was a nice new band, and I had never heard the Mustard Seeds, and they were better than I thought they'd be, but things don't really get cranking on this CD until Deitiphobia comes in with "Bow To The Cross." Other real highlights are Rage Of Angels, Tempest, and Charizma.

The insert is full color and gives a picture of the album that is soon coming (or already out) by each band on the comp, and some info on the release date or basic band info.

M8 is going to be re-releasing a lot of killer albums and this comp is a nice introduction to that. I really only liked less than half of the songs but I know what CDs I'll definitely be getting when they become available.

All of their products are limited to 1000 to 2500 copies. M8 also holds three labels, who carry current artists releasing full-length albums. It would seem logical for an outfit like M8 to come out with a couple of samplers. The first of these is Song Wars:The…
