Those who ever caught some of the heartland rock leanings found on Fighter's Bang The Drum album will be glad to hear lead vocalist Amy Wolter taking this approach on a few of the tunes found on Hit Me In The Heart.
"There Won't Be A Next Time" starts the album with a rockin' anthem that showcases Amy's clean voice in a comfortable range that makes this one an easy pick as a radio single. Tunes like "The Promise" and "Blue Skies" seem to settle into a groove more closely associated to the dance pop of a Kathy Tricolli than a rockin' Margaret Becker -- complete with keys that sound like a horn section. Speaking of Marge, the tune "Oils On This Canvas" sounds like something from her Simple House pop rock album.
It seems that Wolter is trying to cover a lot of ground here -- her first album away from Fighter. Therefore, it makes sense that her best song is the ballad "We All Need," which is one of three she penned completely by herself. The pop rock anthem "Be That Child," another tune she wrote, is a great reminder of how God wants us to be with Him. This one will endear her to a lot more fans than she's ever reached before. As a whole, this album will accomplish the same feat.
