While the production is a little below average, it's obvious that this band is serious about their music. Memories of Iron Maiden appear from time to time and, while Crown of Thorns are not in the same league with Maiden, they definitely have their intensity in tunes like "Abdication." "The Ransom" kicks off with some fiery guitar before slowing down to showcase the vocals of Jeff Holdaway. This is very competent metal with some Sacred Warrior influence, but the music is intense enough to keep it current. Not to be passed up.
