Supernatural is dc Talks' fifth release. Of the fourteen tracks, twelve are what most would call regular rock songs, while the first and last tracks create an incredible bookend effect. If you're not a lyric-reader, or if you buy albums for background music, the album's diversity may yield little glue to hold it together. I encourage you to drop the bad habit of never studying the meaning behind the songs you listen to.
The first thing that struck me about Supernatural was its diversity. Elements of many styles jump from various tracks. I wondered where it would all go; was Supernatural going to be another random collection of Christian themes like most Christian albums? Supernatural's references to sin and forgiveness, our weakness and God's strength, and the way that God has his hand in everything we see tie the album together extremely well. And then comes the last track--Kevin Max's poem. This track is to Supernatural what Rosebud is to Citizen Kane. If you ever do anything for me, listen to this track carefully. Read it over. There isn't enough space to go into the symbolism in Supernatural, but overall this album is one of the best presentations of the gospel that I've ever heard on CD. I highly recommend it.
