The guys in DeGarmo and Key are back a long ways (they're not grandparents yet, though!). They know a lot of rockin' players, like the guys in King's X, REZ, etc.; so they're familiar with real edgy music. So, how come they don't ever kick it out? Comfortable with their audience, maybe? Well, anyways, Ed DeGarmo and Dana Key got a little gnarly 'n' nasty on this release. I guess they decided to join the 90's music revolution. Hmmm...
What's happenin' here is Dana's dirtied up his guitar tone. The only Kiss-influenced/nice boy cheerleading anthems a la "God Good/Devil Bad" here are "Rebel For God" and the title track.
This is the first album since Straight On (1982) that I've been able to say (without feeling like a wimp), "Here's a DeGarmo & Key album I like!"
