Who in Hell Can Flee

What a difference better production makes! The talent this band possesses is much more noticeable here than on their first demo, When Will You See. Soulkeeper is not the perfect band. Sometimes the vocals go flat, like on "In A Dream," and the rhythm guitar desperately needed to get louder due to the bass and drums over-shadowing it. But these are minor details when looking at the big picture.
"The Only Escape" has some haunting vocals, which made me want to keep listening. I'm glad I did, because it has some of the best guitar on the tape. "Who in Hell Can Flee" is a cool tune, which can only touch at the feeling of what it will be like in Hell. "Unseen Father" is a thought-provoking tune about dads who don't take parental responsibility.
This tape succeeds in two ways. One, it gives us some great music to rock with; and two, its lyrics give us a lot to think about. Who In Hell Can Flee is not your typical metal release, but it is one that made me view a few things a little differently.
