First off: You've seen the ads that say, "Five new cuts..." Well, this is sorta true. There's three never-before-released cuts that were recorded during the I Scream Sunday sessions, and there's two cuts from the A Christian Banned custom EP (which has never been seen in the digital format of CD). Now, this collection is a real gem for the Pig fan. Several of the hits are here - "Let's Be Frank," "Isaiah 6," "The Man In Black," "People Cry Out," "I'm Not Getting Any Older" and "Red River." The remixing of some of these cuts adds some beef to this pork.
New tunes "Lust," "I Am The Chief" and (the surprise cut not listed anywhere) "Be Not Alarmed" (?) are real good tunes, albeit not hits that would've lasted the five years that "Let's Be Frank" and "Isaiah 6" have. "I Am The Chief" takes a cool American Indian percussive approach to the Apostle Paul's claim to be "chief of all sinners."
"Lust" tackles the subject of...betcha can't guess! It ends with a great exhortation from God - "Now it's time for you to realize/That it breaks my heart when you fantasize/There's a choice, gotta make it now/Don't shut Me out."
"Be Not Alarmed" features some wild vocal effects a la Satan in old movies. This voice lists off perils that are hitting the earth in rapid succession, before the pigster voices chime in to shout, "Be not alarmed...Jesus is coming/He shall return!" It's a step in the darker direction for these happy pigs. Is that the first use of the keyboards on a pig album I hear?
