Prior to getting this CD to review I hadn't really heard much about this band. It must be because they haven't been around too long because this is definitely a band that people would be talking about.
Overall the mood is sort of dark and slow. The vocalist is very good, and at times reminded me of Bono from U2, actually the guitar with its echoing sound often reminded me of U2 as well.
Another thing that stood out with this release is that not all the songs sounded the same. The second track, "Into the Sea" sounded like something that would have been on the last Havalina Rail Co. release.
I actually liked the slower, more dreamy sounding songs on this release. If the CD was made up of just the slower songs this would be one of those CD's that you just put in and sort of enjoy while laying in your bed on a rainy afternoon. But like I said all the songs are not slow and dark. The fifth track, "The Caribou Suit" even has a bit of a swing feel to it. Again reflecting a bit of Havalina Rail Co. influence.
Overall definitely a good release and a band worth checking out, especially if you consider yourself a fan of creative, well produced, and melodic yet dark and moody indie rock.
