This is Evanescence's first release with Bigwig Enterprises. Evanescence is industrial-metal packaged with angelic-like vocals. Tight metal riffs with a techno backdrop are enhanced with incredible female vocals.
I don't traditionally listen to a lot of music within this genre (not that I have anything against it), but I really enjoyed this album. The metal head in me is satisfied and the softer side that also enjoys Enya and Sarah McLachlan can cry along to the soothing feminine vocals. You have your tough songs like "Whisper" and you have your piano bound ballads like "My Immortal." There are also different sounds spliced here and there in the musical make-up such as acoustic guitar and the aforementioned piano. Several guest musicians are also along for the ride, notably Bruce Fitzhugh of Living Sacrifice fame. Somewhere out there is a movie that needs this album as a soundtrack.
