You have to hand it to Evergreen Terrace. They hate lag time. In between last year's stellar Burned Alive By Time and now, the Florida based melodic hardcore band have released a full length covers record and now this collection which is a combination between a live EP and their first demo (and if that weren't enough, a few members have also recorded a full length and a split with Good Clean Fun influenced youth crew band Casey Jones). At Our Worst takes a portion from one of their more recent live shows and doesn't lack at all in terms of energy. The recording is a bit rough around the edges and it shows (most noticeably at the end of Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em...any ET fan appreciates that breakdown).
The band also does a live rendition of Zero by the Smashing Pumpkins which flies by at a quicker clip than the studio version. The highlight of the live set is No Donnie These Men Are Nihilist when vocalist Andrew Carey urges the band to 'shake it like a Polaroid' before the band drops in with a nasty breakdown.
The demos are actually quite tight in terms of their quality. Burnout has an intro that sounds like Strongarm in their later days while Behind My Back is extremely solid musically. The most noticeable thing is obviously Carey's vocals since they don't quite showcase the maturity of later releases. The difference shows itself immediately in between this and their debut Losing All Hope Is Freedom. The unreleased B-Side from Burned Alive is standard ET fare. Another great release from the band, but a new studio full length would be nice eventually as well.
