I don't like cover albums at all. Flat out, no questions asked. I don't mind if a band puts a cover song on their own albums or even plays it at their shows, sometimes it's fun but please don't do a whole album of it. Writers Block by Evergreen Terrace is no exception. I found myself incredibly bored and aggravated at times with this album. To hear a melodic hardcore band cover "Knowledge" by Operation Ivy is just a mistake. They did a decent job covering one of my all time favorite songs "Stars" by Hum but they did a downright horrible job of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2. They also do covers of Michael Sembello's "Maniac", The Smashing Pumpkins' "Zero", Tears for Fears' "Mad World", The Offspring's "The Kids Aren't Alright", and NOFX's "Dying Degree". They also provide us with one of their own tracks but it isn't enough to save this album.
