Seasoning her music with soulful, R&B-influenced vocals, rhythmic guitar work, and catchy choruses, Heather Miller's new album Send Me an Angel is solid music for fans of female rockers like Shawn Colvin, or Sheryl Crow.
Lending her a hand with production, some of the instrumentation and bgv's are treated by none other than former Grammatrain member, Pete Stewart, and dc Talk's Michael Tait, as well as Chad Chapin and John Mandeville. Heather wrote the bulk of the songs, co-writing on a few tracks with the same guys. Rounding out the sound of Heather's full, rich voice are fat harmonies, organs, strings, and piano.
The opening track, "Angel," bounces into gear with upbeat vocals. Among the most memorable tracks, "Life to Me," breezes along with beautiful harmonies, a goose-bump inducing chorus, and a soaring string section. "On His Way Home" must be defined as The Rocker on the album with its edgy tempo, and driving guitars.
It would serve to be said that Heather's songs feel personal, encouraging, and vibrant, which is what creates the strong, cohesive element on this album. The more I play this album, the more likeable it becomes.
