It seems the English still get into the anthemic thing, raise your fist & chant. Lighters out. It's a bit "80's" & taboo in America. However I did find myself singing in my head "Hallelujah" way after the song "Soldier" finished up the disc. If you're looking for the 70's & 80's Jerusalem, well in the 6 years since their last album music has changed, & so has Jerusalem. Their strong points, Ulf Christiansson's emotionally charged voice & their building anthemic style are driven with a "new" sound reminiscent of U2 & The Alarm. Somehow Ulf has figured out how to pull some of the same emotion & tones out of the guitar as The Edge & ditto, Bono. It does help energize some of the weaker songs. Then "Berlin 38" is a mellow 9 minute Prince/Edge mix which could take some getting used to. It's a sad but necessary holocaust story. The highlight "Face In The Crowd" took me back to Ulf's '82 solo album & the song "My Heart's Desire". As they say, "Listen again, for the first time".
