Knightriot
Beware the Knight
Reviewed by Jeff Lott
For some reason, there always seem to be a half dozen or so bands that, no matter what they do, just can't get that fantastic record deal. Paradox is one example, Knightriot is another. "Beware The Knight" is a great demo. They go after the Sacred Warrior style of metal ('n' there's nothing wrong with that!). All six songs on this tape are great. The standout cuts are "Bitter Field (Hell On Earth)", and "Lucifer's Child". The guitar work is good. The drums are great. Musicianship is top-notch. The only complaint here is the vocals: Jeffrey James is a good vocalist, but at times he gets a little weak, like at the beginning of "In The Year 2525", where he tries to hold the note on the word "find," but is just unable to do it. Definitely a must-have tape. Record companies wake up! For ordering info, write: PO Box 281, Glendale CA 91209-0281.
