Remembering the first time hearing "Stop The Bleeding" and recalling what set Tourniquet apart from other techno-thrash bands, secular or Christian, is their musical ability. "Psycho Surgery" rips into the opening cut by the same name, and only lets up when it intends to. This album finds the addition of two permanent members: guitarist Erik Mendez; and bassist Victor Macias, whose thunderous bass riffs are quite impressive. Vocalist Guy Ritter has been compared to the likes of King Diamond and Udo Dirkschnieder (Accept)...All I can say--and this is my honest opinion--those guys could only wish that they possessed the vocal dexterity of Guy Ritter, who happens to be one of the best vocalists I have ever heard! His timing and vocal versatility is phenomenal. The highlight of this effort is a cut called "Vitals Fading", which the setting takes place in a hospital, with a child who is ignored by his calloused family, but finds peace and serenity in the arms of the Lord. Christian rappers PID join in with the Tourniquet boys for a tune called "Spineless", which is reminiscent of back when Anthrax came out with a thrash/rap tune, called "I'm The Man". "Psycho Surgery" deals with topics such as dysfunctional, alcoholic family trouble to chemical pollution. Tourniquet remains to be not only the best technical thrash bands, but also one of the most aware bands in the Christian metal scene. By the way, these guys put on a killer set at C-Stone.
