Okay all you moshers out there, for informational purposes, Industrial music is sort of like electronic noise, sometimes with distorted vocals. Well, Mental Destruction is definitely an industrial band, and the best way to describe their tape is to call it a cross between a low-budget horror soundtrack and ambient industrial sounds. Don't get me wrong, there are actually a lot of people who get into this stuff, especially in Europe, where this band is from (Sweden). In fact, some of the more progressive secular industrial bands, like Front 242 and Ministry, are becoming a popular replacement for the old punk movement. "When Madness Strikes" reminds me of old SPK, before they became techno-pop (for those of you who may have some idea of what I'm talking about). It starts off with an excellent instrumental called, "Dark, Black, and Without Form". It is followed by three okay tunes that make me thankful for the lyric sheet, which is, of course, the way most industrial music sounds. After that comes a couple of great tunes, called: "The Walls of Madness"; and "Illusion". No compromising here, with lyrics like, "Give Christ your life", and the final tune, "The Lord Reigns". This is definitely a Christian album, seeking to reach out to the lost. I must also mention that the tape has excellent production values. I'm not sure how all you metalheads would react to Mental Destruction, but I would recommend it for anyone who is into gloom and doom electronic music.
