While some find it easy to pin down hardcore bands as a one trick pony, they obviously haven't heard bands like Mental. The hype that they blend New York and Boston hardcore together with just about everything else is more truth than it is a catchy PR phrase. Bands like Slapshot are blended generously with the likes of Sick of It All and The Cro-Mags. Hell, they even throw in a good portion of DC hardcore heroes Minor Threat and Teen Idles into the mix.
The lyrics aren't going to give you deep introspection and the music isn't rocket science but neither of those are the point. This is music to dance to and if you look at it as anything more, then you've missed the point entirely.
