This album is a low-end monster waiting to chew your head off. Fans of the screaming tube sound of early Black Sabbath will scream for joy when you feast your ears on this. The last Rose project left a lot to be desired, in my opinion. It was such a clone of Danzig and the tunes just didn't have a groove as big or bigger than the vocals. This album is a full-on blitzkrieg assault that hard rockin' metalheads will drool over. Take a listen to the earth-shaking Seeds of Sorrow. This groove is right up the alley of the Sabbath-influenced band Trouble. There's even some Ozzy-fied reverb effects at the end of each chorus. Hooked is an appropriately-titled tune! The hooks here grip you tighter than a dentist on a tooth. (Can you say future #1 radio single?) Randy Rose leaves his low, low register behind for the urgent lines that make up the chorus. He returns to his patented low end on each verse. A great song! The title track is a thumper that stays in your mind hours after you listen to the album. The lyrics are well-written, empathetic sagas of truth. "Healing can be painful/I know how bad it hurts/Healing is the only way/To face another day." On Demons Randy does a little teaching about these foul spirits: "You let me in with your sin/And I will stay 'til you drive me away." Satan and his painful work is the subject of many of the works here, and the freeing power of Christ is triumphantly and clearly presented as well. This is the heaviest album of the new year. It ain't no cute lil' piece of art either. It's big and bad.
