With straight-forward lyrics and heavy rock, Searcher's first effort doesn't really come through with any songwriting substance. Lead vocalist Michael Daniels comes off rather mundane with vocals that weren't controlled well, which gives the listener (me) an uneasy, chaotic feel. Maybe if the songwriting were a little more solid, with more direction, then we might "feel" a more stable effort. And (unfortunately), it goes on with drummer Craig Wallace and bass player Matt Shaw. There is no sense of foundation with the rhythm section, so it's hard to feel any groove. Lead guitarist Randy Ramage holds his own, but not enough to save this effort. For ordering info, write: 110B North, Brighton IL 62012.
