The first thing one has to say about this punk band is that its made up of four girls. All cleverly named Donna. And in the spirit of girl power I will now treat these girls no different than boys, because if I said something like "Well, this aspect of them is forgivable because they're girls," would imply that girls are not as good as boys. And if you want to say that, go ahead, I won't.
First, can they play music well? Let me get this one out of the way and move on, they are nowhere near tight. If tight was the bright center of the galaxy, the Donnas would be on the system furthest from. But if you can overlook that you still might have something to look forward to. Well there is this one other thing: there's practically no drum fills, there's probably a good reason for that. But there is a recurring cowbell. I haven't yet decided if the cowbell is good or evil.
The lyrics are pretty much on par with other punk bands in this area of simple pop-punk. Songs about meeting boys going to parties and the mall. Other bands made up of boys sing about girls and school, pretty much the same thing. There are a few good rhymes, but for the most part nothing really creative. And nothing really stands out about the music. Nothing really super catchy here, but not all that bad either.
So pretty much you have an okay band with okay music. But I think once they tighten up and take a little more time on melody and songwriting they could be a pretty good band. The album starts out pretty good, then bogs down. They have to improve their good-song to fast-forward-song ratio a lot. It's a definite improvement over their last album, lets hope they improve even more.

Decapolis 1999Reviewed by TimGirl Ramones. This record is almost poppy. The recording is kind of bad, but the music is decent. B-
Decapolis 1999Reviewed by TomFour girls from CA that like to rock, who all happen to have the same first name? You should be into this if you like pop punk with tons of anti-solos and a classic rock and roll feel. These girls are getting a lot of attention and for the most part they deserve it. Their style is kind of a Ramones punk, with a Kiss and 80's Glam Rock feel. If you liked their first full length on Lookout then you…
Decapolis 1999Reviewed by dmkEquality for women! There's no such thing in rock and roll until the all-girl rock band is seen as something more than a novelty act. Bland... voice... giving... me... a headache! As a novelty they aren't bad. But let's just say that if they were guys, they'd suck. A lot. CSimilar sounding releases
