To know music is one thing. To make a nice sharp and crisp sounding cd is another thing. In today's musical society we are spoiled by an ability to really gift wrap a CD's sound. To bring some slick production on board and get a clean cut and polished sound is what Victims by The Redemption Song throws out the nice sleek look and gets back to the music. I am a huge rock fan, I love punk music, and I dig a nice intense heavier flavor (such as metal, industrial, or hardcore). Victims is the CD for me.
This five-track EP is a follow-up to 2003's Plays Dead in Stereo and displays a sound that is changing. Victims shows a struggle to live life. In a way it searches for a deeper meaning and is quite in depth. This CD shows that we are Victims of our stressed out hearts. Back into the musical spice, away from the deeper wording, The Redemption Song's Victims throws together a nicely ruffled up piece of a pissed mix of hardcore, punk, and rock. Mind the last sentence, but The Redemption Song is NOT an angry band; they just like playing their music raw. Not screamo, not straight edge (although slight influences are there), not a spitfire hardcore punk spazz fest, this is just a raw and flavorful mix of music.
Victims is just touching upon a looser feeling CD that slaps together a hardcore unity type feeling, punk party, and a rock's reason to rock out! Victims is the way edgier music should be, raw, moving, and gritty for the fun of music. Be warned, a slick production is not what Victims ever meant to be and it is not. Victims is a CD that brings a memory of old school roots and an ability to play music. Rock out with The Redemption Song!
