Video Biopsy (Video)
Reviewed by Doug Van Pelt
This project, which was originally slated to be a custom product the band sold through the mail, was picked up by Frontline for official release and distribution in the stores. The packaging looks great, but this video should have stayed a band fan club product, because the quality is definitely homemade. All that aside, the personality glimpses of the band members are very funny. I really liked the staged "audition" of Victor and Eric on acoustic instruments at the Santa Monica pier. Victor and Eric are playing for money and Gary, Ted and Guy walk up and talk them into giving an audition on the spot with the song "White-washed Tomb," while Guy reaches down and pours all the change from the donation can into his pocket. What else is good about this is the heart to heart sharing of various members concerning their vision, the Lord's heart, etc. Some of the live footage is obscure and the sound is all from the condenser mic on the camcorder. "The Ark of Suffering" appears here (the band's getting as much mileage as they can out of this one), which is so awesome that it needs to be seen again and again.
