The first two band have records coming out on R.E.X. in '96. Rocketboy-"Shades Of Grey": you think just maybe these boys were Nirvana fans? Nah. Four Living Creatures-"Tangent": slaps back 'n' forth between mellow & heavy slamming & ultimately Scaterd Few comes to mind-wild. Mood Ring-"Mood Ring": a workable conglomeration of rhythms & keys from the deepest of The Cure & super low & grinding guitars. Caprill-"Midnight Rain": Hey, it works for Alanis Morissette, Heather Nova, etc. Eyes Wide Open-"Thorns": nice sentiments, well-executed, but a bad attempt at a modern Devo or D.A. Snappy-"Dewback": R.E.X., stick with Sixpence...Jesus Flying Rocketship-"Throughim": are we running out of good band names? And how does Smashing Pumpkins get that guitar tone? Uninspired. Sudden Heaven-"Zen Apathy": good words, kinda punkish with a twist. Mr. I-"Sipping Dust": sleepy psychedelia rock that builds up & punches at the end. Jawbone Hill-"Purity": almost Last Crack without the metal, like James or Last Tribe. Agatha Parker Sterling-"Father Boy": she has a real nice voice & plays the piano beautifully, nice song. Included is addresses for all bands.
