I highly recommend you click the above link and visit Records page about Escape The Furnace. As you can see this is the next in line for a 10 rating. I really don't like to give out 10 ratings, because I feel a CD must be absolutely outstanding to receive a 10, and I don't want my readers to think that Dead is like all the other zines out there that gives a good rating to just anything that comes along. No, a 10 is earned in Dead. ETF pulled a 9.5, and it was very hard to not give it a 10. The main reason it did not get it is because about 30% of the songs really deviate from the type of music Dead generally covers, granted I am trying to get Dead more into the Heavy Industrial and electronic sounds, but some of the songs are just plain Mellow!
If you read my review of Frank's Enemy's Neoblasphemies CD you will recall that one of the overbearing reasons I rated it high was the musical diversity involved. Well same here. Except here you get 30 tracks of music. Let me be upfront. No I did not like all 30 tracks. I didn't come close to liking all 30 tracks. I liked about 20 of the 30 tracks. That is not to say that there are 10 bad songs/bands on this, it's just to say that I don't really care for the ambient, and techno bands that were featured. There is no bad song on here, and the musical diversity is such that there is no one alive who can not find several songs that they enjoy. Most people will find many songs they like.
It's a bargain as well, and you know how I feel about getting your money's worth out of music. This 30 track double CD set is yours for only $20.
It's hard to go into too much detail here because the music is so varied. If you get into industrial, gothic, or electro rock at all this is a must for you. If you are one of the strict death readers of Dead, stay away. You probably wont appreciate it that much. For fans of Klank, Chatterbox, Mortal, Blackhouse, Saviour Machine, etc.

The Phantom Tollbooth 1998Reviewed by Jeremy ChoiThis is indeed a delectable treat for fans of industrial, darkwave, and ambient electronic music. Blacklight Records has been so kind as to garnish listeners with a two-CD set which features an all industrial and industrial-influenced line-up, packed with more punches than a Don King promoted bout. If you were one of the folks who snatched up Flaming Fish Records' Full Frontal Lobotomy, you'll…Similar sounding releases
