So if you've read Dead for a little while, you know I really dig compilation CDs. Hey one of my favorite bands is Frank's Enemy because of the varied styles they play, so to get several bands would surely be variation right? It seems the hardcore scene is really pounding out the comp. CDs these days too. This one is a bit different.
Instead of a ton of bands crammed onto a fair quality CD and put out just for the heck of it, this CD is 8 bands with 1 song each, put out on a really high quality production all benefiting Crisis Pregnancy Centers.
Stifled Vol. 1 is a Pro-Life compilation featuring some of the best Christian hardcore you can get your hands on. With tracks by:
Disciple
Blindside
Crux
Overthrow
Through And Through
N.I.V.
Spitfire
Pensive
Some of these songs you probably have heard before like the N.I.V. track Pro-Kill, from their No Compromise album, or Pensive with Dispose, from their The Subtlety of Silence CD/EP. The rest, however, you simply must hear. If you still have not heard Erie, PA's Disciple, you have no idea the intensity of this hardcore band, and won't believe you were able to exist without them before.
As if the music weren't good enough, the cover art is awesome. The layout on the insert is really nice. Full color photo of every band and the lyrics to each song, because they are so important.
Speaking of lyrics, these guys pour out their hearts in defense of the defenseless. These songs are SOLID Pro-Life tunes that will break your heart. Overthrow lays it on the line in Birthright with these lyrics:
Abortion is about money
Abortion is about control
Will you let them take your child?
Will you let them take control?
Then Through And Through tells it like it's gonna be in Weeping At The Gates Of Ramah:
My God will avenge them
My God will avenge them
Hand for hand
Life for life
Burn for burn.
The truth is given in the last line of Spitfire's effort on this CD entitled simply Aborted:
I believe that everyone has a reason
and a meaning in this world.
The tray of this CD is filled with resources for both women who are pregnant and need someone to talk to, and those who have gone through an abortion and need counseling. Packed with info on the subject and ways to get more, this CD is not just for your listening pleasure.
At 10 bucks this CD is HIGHLY recommended, and if it had been a few tracks longer may have procured itself that extra half a point.
This bloody holocaust must be ended, and it's not going to happen until people are educated. Stop standing in the middle ground. Start by buying yourself 8 killer hardcore tracks and reading the insert. Write to some of the places listed and LEARN all you can.
8.5/10

HM Magazine #74Reviewed by Doug Van PeltThe fine folks at Sustenance Records have released a killer hardcore compilation. One of the best hardcore indie bands out there, xDisciplex, start things off with the brilliant "Candy Apple," chugging along at high speed authority, emitting power and confidence. Other heavyweights in the hardcore underground (as well as signed) include: Overthrow, Through And Through, No Innocent Victim,…Dead Zine 1997Reviewed by FletchMost hardcore compilations I get have some pretty lame stuff on them. This cd is not one such cd. The only two bands I didn't like were Crux, that's only because I'm not a punk fan, and No Innocent Victim. All the other hardcore was great. A couple of bands with names like those of other bands you might know are on this cd. A deathcore band called Disciple is featured as the lead track while a…Similar sounding releases
