Back in 1994 a friend and I had a weekly two-hour Christian radio show on a college radio station. My friend would play modern / contemporary-flavored rock for the first hour (while I napped), then the second hour I'd take over the helm and force-feed the campus the more, shall we say, metallic side of our faith (sometimes, if you listened hard enough, you could hear the sounds of radios turning off whenever I came on). Ah, the good old days.

Now, the reason I took you on this trip down memory lane is that Wired & Plugged In was one of the promotional freebies that the Frontline Music Group sent us (we were college students. We were poor. We shamelessly begged). A part of that reason, also, is because I've seen this disc for sale on a few online stores- which, considering the disclaimer on the back that says "For promotional use only- not for resale", took me by surprise. So, I thought it would be nice to state what one would be getting into if one was considering buying this.

First off, there are thirteen tracks crammed onto the CD, divided into three sections: rock, rock / metal, and metal. Of these thirteen, about eight would be considered Dead material. On the plus side, there are some choice cuts from Intense Records bands Rose ("Hooked", "Fallen"), Mortal ("Bright Wings", "One Tree Hill"), Deliverance ("Sanctuary", "Learn"), Saviour Machine ("Jesus Christ") and Tourniquet ("The Skeezix Dilemma"...that's right, Frontline considered this 12-minute song to be radio material- I would play it whenever I had to use the bathroom or needed a drink of water or something). On the negative side, though, many who collected these Frontline bands in their heyday would probably already have the CDs they came on. Plus, did I mention the modern rock cuts? They might open up someone to a softer side of listening material, and GOD put me on this earth to make sure that didn't happen. So, if you're considering getting this CD, be prepared to make use of the skip button on the player.
