Little piece of useless trivia: I'm best friends with the person who was supposed to replace Rex Scott of Zion- Scott Osterloh. He was slated to take over vocals after Rex bailed to front X-Sinner, but then the band and label folded. Blessing in disguise, otherwise he wouldn't experience the joy of knowing me. Anyway, just some useless filler I threw in there, and Scott, if you're reading this, that was another minute of your fifteen minutes of fame. You're welcome.

Beyond that, over the course of the ten years or so that I've been seriously collecting Christian metal, I kept running into this CD no matter where I go, and then saw D's review of the thing pop up in these pages. So, finally a couple of days ago, whilst browsing at the local Hastings store, I saw this for sale for a paltry $.49, and who could pass up a CD for less than a can of pop?

Well, from the opening strains of "Who Pulls The Strings", I pretty much got the gist of the overall sound of the album. It's pretty straight-ahead melodic metal in the vein of Bon Jovi, Aldo Nova (the "Life is just a fantasy..." pop metal guy from the mid-80s...ask your parents), Def Leppard, and just about anything Rob Rock produced in the 80s. It's the kind of evangelical-heavy Christian metal I probably would have loved to death...when it came out in 1989. Now, though, it'll probably be around for historical purposes, as it really doesn't hold much nostalgic value for myself, and will probably only pop in the player every once in a great while.

Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by D_ListerNeeding to find some more late 80's glam metal for that every now and again itch you get? Zion might just be the disc for you. It's easy to find and usually cheap. I would have to suggest to you to not pay too much for it. I'm not overly impressed with this CD and it's not one I owned back in the past so there's no sentimental value attached to this music for me. Although this is a bit more…Adonai Metal Rock #3Reviewed by Daniel BaillodTranslated from the original French Whoah!! For a first album, ZION hits very, very hard!! David ZAFFIRO (BLOODGOOD's guitarist) produced this first vinyl effort: and the producer's job suits him very well, because "Thunder From The Mountain" has the benefit of a big sound, very clear. The AC/DC influences, very recognisable on their demo "Rock For Eternity", have softened a good deal (except on…Heaven's Metal #18Reviewed by Doug Van PeltThis album smokes! It's got a killer sound that tickles itching ears...but the message won't cater to the flesh. It's confrontational and to the point. "Who pulls the strings? Who makes you do those things?" Satan has "Sold You A Lie." It's time to "Kick In The Gates Of Hell" and "Roll The Rock" away from your heart. This is 80's metal all the way. Some guy named David (from a black gospel rap…Heaven's Metal #14Reviewed by Doug Van PeltThis appropriately-titled tape starts off with some excellently-produced harmonies, which kick into a real catchy hook. Zion has shredded their AC/DC clone sound to take on a more full, melodic sound not too unlike Dokken. Quite a change, huh? David Zaffiro produced this music - and did a great job. The guitars are upfront with a very solid and driving rhythm behind it. Rex Scott still has the…
