Death metal on vinyl -- if you thrash it skips!
The music is slow and thick with haunting vocals and 12 ton rhythms. "They Die" is a somewhat monotonous tune with dark, gloomy lyrics. The end of the song kicks into a cool melodic instrumental. "Crestfallen" continues the darkness with a sense of hope in reaching out to the Lord. The beginning of the song has a Metallica "One" feel to it.
Overall, the two songs lack the groove that would keep this reviewer's attention. Anathema has the ability to put the "death" into death metal, but maybe a little "groove" with the "death" would make this metal more appealing.
