The band has possibilities. The strong wailing vocals, tight rhythms, shredding guitar licks and solid song writing will attract many ears to the heavy and melodic vibes that are zapped into each of the four songs on the demo.
The melodies grab with confidence due to the quality musicianship that sets this band apart from other unsigned bands. The chorus in "Walking Away From Evil" is big and beefy. The BGV's are definitely happening, but not just in this song. "Quiet Desperation" takes the listener on a soul soothing journey that offers a powerful hope in God. Musically, the song resembles Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" mixed with some fragile blues. If you like all-out melodic aggression, "When I Close My Eyes" will keep your attention. The songs are not perfect album material, but the positive aspects make up for the flaws.
For those of you who haved enjoyed the bands produced by David Zaffiro, there is a slight Zaffiro sound that runs in and out of the songs. Zaffiro didn't produce Relyant's demo, but maybe he should look into doing the next one.
