Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! More quality Christian industrial. This trio of young lads from Rock Island, Illinois trekked all the way to Houston, Texas to record one of the best industrial albums around. They succeeded with the help of Brent Stackhouse and Byron Payne at the helm.
At first, very similar to secular sound-sculptors Skinny Puppy, they come across as very dark. "Soul Like Ice" opens the album with dark, orchestral music and heavily distorted vocals. As "It Was Born There" comes on, the pace picks up with a steady beat and great programming. My favorite samples are in this fine tune. A man says in a condemning voice, "You shall be consumed by fire" repeated a few times. Love it! Love it!
As you move on through this wonderful soundscape, the songs become more original, and they start to get a sound of their own. There is another song that sounds very similar to cyber-dance band Frontline Assembly, but don't let this get you down. Overall, Global Wave System has a totally original sound. This is achieved through the use of totally unconventional keyboard sounds and music. The programming is really excellent.
I really have nothing bad to say about this album. Although influences by Skinny Puppy and Frontline Assembly can be heard, the originality of the rest of the music outweighs this factor. I love them. Have their mothers kiss them for me.
Everyone who enjoys industrial music a little on the abstract side needs to grab a hold of this. It's 12 songs of intense listening enjoyment.
