Now just because everyone (including the band) has been calling this band a death/grind act, don't go expecting the typical grindcore sound here. Yes at times they have a raw punkish/death feel to the music, but when they do come into what I would guess people are labeling the grind songs the intensity level is not quite right. I'm sure people feel the need to attach 'grind' to it also because there are 27 tracks on this CD. Most of the songs are under 2 minutes each, but again are not intense enough to really pull off a grindcore feel. There are three tracks under 10 seconds and these rare moments are blazing, and unique and therefore really aren't out of place or boring.

OK so I've established that even though a lot of grindcore elements are present I don't think Antidemon can be called a grindcore band. So what about the death metal parts. Well put simply I think they rule. The songs as mentioned are mostly short and for the most part lack any atmosphere but still overly death metal. Actually in my opinion the stand out track of them all is the sadly track #27. Entitled Confinamento Eterno (Eternal Confinement in English) and it clocks in at 5:34 ranking itself as the longest Antidemon song on the CD. Despite my saying otherwise this is also one of the only tracks to create atmosphere with the inclusion of some haunting spoken vocals at the beginning.

Lyrically these guys LOVE Horde and old Mortification! I mean come on, it's all about torture, hatred, and destroying satan, his minions, and the negative influences he creates. Just doesn't get any better than that. It's cool too cause despite the lyrics being sung in Portuguese, it's very singable. You can look at these words you don't know and pretty much sing along, that's how well the vocals are handled.

Guitar work is outstanding. It would have been nice to see some of these songs combined together to create longer more diverse songs, but each stands as its own small moment of DM bliss, interrupted momentarily as the track changes into another one. Are you catching on yet, I really LIKE this CD!

Yes it's true they got a chick drummer. Agreed she's no Jayson Sherlock, but she does hold her own. I don't recall any major double bass parts, but I do remember some very nice tom fills, and overall she keeps the pace going at the mid-tempo style they need. Elke works just fine in this band.

Alright well that's my two cents worth. If you can deal with the lyrics in another language (and they are all translated in the insert) and are looking for some pretty decent death metal, Antidemon is your poison. Check it out.

HM Magazine #83Reviewed by Doug Van PeltI wonder how these guys feel about demons? Hmmm... This tight Brazilian trio slams out an incredible 27 songs here! The band blasts away at hyper-sonic speeds, rivaling some of the better black metal I've heard, but the vocals take a definite low-end grindy/deathy growl. Lyrically, they take a strong stance, calling forth blessings from God, and offering warfare prayers to bind the enemy. This is…Dead Zine 1999Reviewed by sesspoolThis Brazilian death metal band takes you back to the roots of modern death metal and even included some tracks taking you all the way back to original death metal in its true punky form. The first thing to note in this album is the way the music is mixed... don't worry, that emotional and dark intro won't last long and you can get to your mediocre death metal in a moment. All right, the first…Dead Zine 1999Reviewed by GrindboyThe first two things I noticed about this cd are that all the lyrics are in Portuguese and they have a female drummer. First the lyrics. Not since Horde have I heard an album this focused on evil being bad. As the band name and album title go (I'm assuming Demonocido translates roughly into "killing demons" or some such), so goes the entire album. Antidemon massacres Satan, hate, and violence,…
