Atreyu is from Southern California and has released "Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses" on Victory records.
With Atreyu, be prepared to take a foray into the metal-core sound. The good news is, "Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses" is better than a lot of the garbage taking up space these days. Probably one of the few decent bands Victory has signed lately, Atreyu takes for the most part, their own approach to an over-used genre. The songs are cleverly written and arranged, with a variety of elements to keep you interested. You will find singsong vocals as well as throaty growls which should make everyone happy. There is a soaring guitar riff in "Deanne the Arsonist" (the title sounds like a Screeching Weasel song) which showcases some definite talent. Production wise the guitars are sharp, the drums solid, and the vocals are just slightly buried in the music to score a great ratio. This might not be the best thing going on, but Atreyu stands out from the crowd, so don't pass them by. Let there be no doubt, they are a young band that shows promise.
