What can you say about a "greatest hits" collection of a band that you've grown disappointed with over the years? Idle Cure rocks--and rocks very hard and very good...sometimes. Songs like "Breakaway," from the band's hottest and debut album, will always go down in my private highlights mental sound book, but the wimpy, sugar-coated polish of later albums tend to make me wanna search for other music to put on. Don't get me wrong, it's done well. For example, songs like "Contend for the Faith," "So Many Faces" and "Frontline" are all well-crafted tunes, they're just aimed at a more Pop-oriented audience than myself. The added bonus to this collection--the "Breakaways Hit Mix"--is a house mix of Idle Cure's two greatest tunes, "Breakaway" and "Pray," but no headbanger will headbang to this dj remix underneath the normal vocal tracks. Ya wanna hear Idle Cure rock, give 'em a producer like Eddie Kramer or Gene Simmons.
