This release is very much like "Dicken's Tale of Two Cities". You've got your good and you've got your not so good. Jimmy Eat World kicks down the door with their first song, "The Most Beautiful Things." Musically this song has enough fulcrum to move the planet. The lyrics seem to have been found in the notes of the music, because there hasn't been a more perfect combination since Frankenstein found his wife. "No Sensitivity," the second track takes where the first leaves off. It's about wanting to take back your kisses (after you've realized they've been wasted on the wrong person) and is a rock anthem if I've ever heard one. Their last song slows it down, to about slow dance pace, but losses none of it's fire. For those of you who've had your head in a hole and don't know what Jimmy Eat World sounds like, they play rock music that can make you cry and smile in equal proportions. Jebediah bats second and while I found the music to be somewhat better than their full length, the vocals still pull the whole presentation down. In the book of indie rock, these guys are back in the table of contents. I'm really hoping that with time they can get it together and if hanging out with anyone can help them improve, it would be Jimmy Eat World. Hopefully something will rub off.
