Headbangers and metalheads rejoice! For all those true metal fans out there who thought that they would never hear good quality "power metal" in the Christian market again, the wait is finally over. Presenting Kreyson, a Czech band that can "throw down" better than any band I've heard in years. Man, can these boys shred!
The first of these two albums by this kickin' outfit is jam packed with everything that turned you on to heavy metal to begin with: angelic vocals, blazing guitar leads, tons of double bass, awesome drum sonics, killer chords, and tight rhythm section...need I go on? These boys must've had a lesson from "Mr. Hook," Ken Tamplin himself, because this album hooks big enough to hang a submarine out to dry, tons of 'em. "Deep In the Night" has a killer groove and a really nice chorus that you can actually sing along with. This baby's also got a killer guitar line in it! "No Blue Skies" (my personal fave) begins with a very soft, pleasant intro, and then, without warning, throws it into overdrive like a bullet train running late.
This second offering takes the band in a slightly heavier direction than their previous release. But don't worry!! There's still tons of fabulous music to crank out here. I managed (somehow) to get my hands on lyrics to this album, and it plays out like a concept album. At first listen, you'd never think that, because every single blazing tune on this CD could rule Christian metal radio for months, even years (I know, I'm a DJ). The title track comes in with some nice double guitars, and then slams into a nice tight groove throughout. "Commandments" follows right along with a killer double bass intro and gets even better from there. Lead Singer Jan Kreyson's voice shines on this record, mainly because he's a little bit more understandable. Quality production and precise musicianship oozes from this album. Sheer talent must ooze from every pore in these guys' bodies.
These are imports so they aren't cheap, but they are well worth the extra couple of bucks.
