Last Angel
One Night
Reviewed by Doug Van Pelt
This custom tape is a low budget aim at a very progressive Metal sound with Thrash influences. It shows glimpses of talent, potential and also some glaring mistakes. The sonics are somewhat disappointing and flat, which steals most of the band's thunder, but it's Last Angel at this stage of growth. The tune "One Night" is Thrash with striking, agressive, good drumming and a nice groove by the rhythm section. The BGV'sh seem unrehearsed and off. The guitar sounds crunchy, but not as exciting as the drums. "Madness" has a better guitar sound during the hammer-ons, with a medieval-type progressive sound and fast beats. The chorus is dull. The ballad "My Child" is pleasant to listen to. "Twelve Seconds Till Black" is a heavy song that would stand out if it had a listenable production budget (this is like a garage tape). It's got a good and solid groove. To order, send $5 to: Aaron Mills, 237 Pine Circle, Dunbar WV 25064.
