the founding member of the lifesavers, mark krischak is back with 18 tracks of 80's surf rock with repetitive gtr licks and drum machines. 11 of the 18 tracks start out almost exactly the same first drum machine, 2 bars later the distorted gtr [ed. i totally luv his gtr sound] kicks in playing the same chord progressions over and over. the odd gtr solo, higher tuned or sounding bass hard to pick out in the whole album, very interesting. the vocals are very different. i think he has dubbed over his own vocals making it sound like 2 people belting out, sometimes one voice moving to another octave or melody, much like 'labour of love' did in the 80's but not as drastically. most of the tunes sound similar. answering machine messages and video clips are placed at the beginning and ends of each song, i think one is david letterman with beavis and butthead. lyrically MK is straight up. you'll definitely find out what the most important thing to MK is.
