One of the problems with Christian Rock and Metal music is that there is so much great music to choose from. This album is so good, it complicates the situation even more! It's too bad you can't spend the same dollar twice, but since you only can spend what you've got, you gotta get this tape! I first heard of Ransom from a 3-song demo back in 1988. I was impressed then, and I'm impressed now. From their self produced debut sampler, they have progressed to their latest effort, "Soul Asylum." Lead vocalist Lisa Faxon delivers the rockin' Metal with a one-two punch as only she can. It's about time a band like Ransom came along with the powerful female lead vocals to challenge even the most die hard fan of male-only groups. Ransom isn't alone in this project. With the talents of Oz Fox (Stryper), Lary Melby (Liaison), and Lanny Cordola, you know the Metal has meaning. But the nice thing about their contributions is that they don't overshadow the Ransom talent. They compliment the music, and add to this project rather nicely. I can't say you'll love every song, but there's a thought-provoking message in every track. That's what makes them Ransom.
